Legacy Mental Programming Upgrade to Rewire Your Brain

Instructions

Fill in the blanks with whatever comes to mind. You can be deeply sincere, a little ridiculous, or both. The point is to run a new line of code in your Default Mode Network.

Until now, my pattern was [negative belief / habit / default setting],

but today I am [verb ending in -ing] my way into becoming the kind of person who [new belief / identity / ridiculous superpower].

Every time I [common daily action], I remind myself [motivating phrase / absurd mantra],

because my brain loves [emotion / sensation / thing you enjoy] more than it loves [old habit / outdated thought / something mildly embarrassing].

From now on, I will collect proof that I am [identity upgrade]

whether that proof comes in the form of [serious example] or [completely silly example].

And if [funny or dramatic name for your old narrator] shows up again,

I will politely tell them [witty dismissal], and keep going.

Example 1:

Until now, my pattern was doubting my ideas, but today I am speaking up in meetings like Beyoncé with a slide deck.

Every time I sip my morning coffee, I remind myself “I am worth being heard,” because my brain loves progress more than it loves playing small.

From now on, I will collect proof that I am a confident leader—whether that proof comes in the form of leading a project or finally hitting ‘send’ on that bold email.

And if Debbie Downcode shows up again, I will politely tell her “Not my script,” and keep going.

Example 2:

Until now, my pattern was thinking I’m bad at cooking, but today I am flambéing my way into becoming the kind of person who makes Gordon Ramsay weep with joy.

Every time I put on socks, I remind myself “I am a majestic kitchen wizard,” because my brain loves cheese more than it loves burnt toast.

From now on, I will collect proof that I am the Chosen Chef—whether that proof comes in the form of perfectly poached eggs or my dog enjoying his scrambled eggs.

And if Captain Cranky Cortex shows up again, I will politely tell him “Go put yourself in the freezer,” and keep going.
